Capsule Geology

The Bungee showing occurs in Pennsylvanian or Carboniferous strata of the Stikine Assemblage consisting of argillite and limestone. A quartz dioritic Late Cretaceous stock of the Windy Table Complex intrudes the country rock in the vicinity of the Bungee.

Airborne geophysics showed a strong electromagnetic conductor and coincident magnetic high near a ridgeline at 1900 metres elevation between the Outlaw and Cirque zones. Prospecting in 2000 by Rimfire Corporation showed that the geophysics anomaly corresponded to one of two zones of semi-massive to massive pyrrhotite, with minor quartz and epidote, occurring along the upper and lower contacts of a limestone bed. The pyrrhotite is hosted within the adjacent argillite, apparently as a skarn or replacement. Both pyrrhotite bodies dip moderately to the south; the upper one appeared to be 10-20 metres thick and the lower one about 2 metres thick. Precious metal values are low, although arsenic and zinc are locally elevated. Sample 206502 assayed 0.95 per cent zinc and 0.12 per cent arsenic (Assessment Report 26433).

In 2000, Rimfire Minerals Corporation collected 3 samples at the Bungee zone.

See Outlaw (104K 083) and Cirque 104K 030) for geological and historical information on the Thorn property.
